A Daughter of the Land by Gene Stratton Porter

A Daughter of the Land by Gene Stratton Porter

Bushra Zia

A rich land owner, Bates, deprives his daughters of their share and hands out two hundred acres land to each of his sons without giving them the title. Kate Bates worked all her life to hand out land to her brothers. Now she dreams of two hundred acres land of her own. She commences the journey in her quest for independence and land ownership.

Stratton-Porter developed an excellent plot. However, the strong character of Kate Bates is portrayed in great contrast to her wrong, life altering decisions.
